DJ's Ice Cream

DJ’s Ice Cream Details

Another fine downtown dining establishment, DJ’s is located on Toledo Avenue about a block away from the main drags. A short walk from the Jet Express Ferry and other public docks, a stop to DJ’s is as easy as can be. DJ’s includes a lovely patio to enjoy when the weather is sunny.

The friendly staff greets every customer on their way in. With 16 delicious flavors of ice cream, there is always something for everyone at DJ’s. Classic favorites such as vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry share the same case as more exotic flavors like Superman and Mint Chocolate Chip.

They also serve incredible waffles for breakfast and yes, you can eat ice cream and waffles at the same time! Served with the freshest fruit on the island, these waffles are really something special.

DJ’s serves lunch and dinner as well. Their signature sandwiches are delicious and filling. Enjoy one in their relaxing, casual dining space. The service is fast and delivered with a smile. Once you enjoy your sandwich, guess what? It’s time to order ice cream!

Walking Around Put-in-Bay

A walk always starts off right with an ice cream cone in hand. There are plenty of fun things to see and enjoy in the immediate vicinity to DJ’s Ice Cream. DeRivera Park is right up Toledo Avenue on Delaware. This park is really the center of downtown. With plenty of picnic tables and BBQ grills, families love throwing gatherings in the park. There is also a public restroom here.

Kimberly’s Carousel spins joyfully directly across the street. Take a ride on one of the many hand painted animals. The favorite is is definitely Petey the Perch. Plenty of shops line the streets next to Kimberly’s. Shop for gift and Put-in-Bay souvenirs at the Carriage House or the Put-in-Bay Shirt Shack.

Nature Walks

With is unique ecology, Put-in-Bay contains many interesting nature walks. Thanks to places like the Lake Erie Islands Conservancy and the Ohio Sea Grant, there are several protected areas to enjoy.

The Massie Cliffside Preserve includes eleven acres of protected shoreline. The Dodge Woods Preserve is a wonderful place to look for migratory birds and the elusive Lake Erie water snake. Spot beautiful butterflies and wildflowers at Jane Coates Wildflower Trail.

Of course, South Bass State Park provides shady walking trails and more picnic areas. There is also a small swimming beach and public dock launch here. This park is also home to cabins and a very nice campground. Rent a space soon if you’d prefer to experience Put-in-Bay is a more natural setting.
