Join Us For The Firefighter’s Clambake September 21st!

Most foods that you love are available pretty much all the time. If you want a pizza or a burger, there’s no shortage of places to call. But for certain things, you have to have them when they’re available. There’s not a pig roast everywhere everyday for example. Same with a clambake. So if you’re lucky enough to be at Put-in-Bay Ohio in September, make your way over to the fire station on Concord Ave. between 12 PM and 5 PM and enjoy one of the great rare culinary pleasures, a clambake! This is, in fact, over 40 years in a row that the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department clambake has taken place, and all proceeds go towards updating the fire department’s equipment, so you’ll be eating clams for a cause!

Details for the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department Clambake

The clambake plates that you’ll scoop up from the fire station will make for the perfect picnic meal. Many people carry it away to one of the many beautiful spots on the island for a picnic. There are tables and bathrooms at DeRivera Park, just a short walk away. Oak Point State Park is another spot available nearby. Of course you could always take it back to your vacation rental home or condo as well!

If you are interested in coming up to the island the weekend of the clambake, it would be silly not to stop in for a place for lunch or dinner on Saturday. It’ll be an amazing meal and the proceeds go to a great community cause! Of course no one is coming to the island just for the clambake. Fortunately there are things going on all over the island to fill an entire weekend and then some. You can kayak around the lake or rent jet skis. You can check out not one, but two, amazing caves, one with an underground lake and one with the world’s largest geode! I’ll bet you didn’t expect that. The Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial is one of the tallest monuments in America, and that’s at Put-in-Bay too!
