Next Two Weekend’s Live Music At The Bay!
So this is going to a change up this weeks Downtown Dave post. I am going to make a few comments but then I am going to make comments in each bar section about the bands performing at each venue. Now each band or artist that I comment about I have personally seen play. I also have many videos posted on many live performances on my personal facebook page. The whole reason that I started to come to Put in Bay was the different live music that I could listen to on a given day.

Every solo performer and band for the next 2 weeks are awesome. I call Wednesdays at the Roundhouse Wrinkle Wednesday. Why, the bands play mostly songs from the 70s,80s and 90s. Most of the crowd has a few wrinkles just like me. Roundhouse calls it Wednesday it is a tradition. They even have shirts that say that.

Okay you can see the entertainment is consistent. The Fulco Brothers are from Tampa Florida. They are a dad and his 3 sons. From Billy Joel, Elton John to Ozzy Osbourne they play it all and also today’s hits. They do not have I pads or background music; they know all the songs. I have been told that I need to see Kyle. I did see him last week and he is awesome. He does a lot of Pat Dailey songs.

Nick Brownnell and Sloppy Seconds are performers that spend most of the winter entraining in Key West. Definitely both worth seeing. Now Bob Gatewood, Not only is he a good friend he is a great musician. Solo he makes it sound like a full band. Plus he has some great original music that he plays. Plus he wrote the official island song about Put in Bay called Friends of the Bay. Ray Fogg, I have seen him play for over 20 years. He will play all of your favorite sing alongs plus a few of his originals. Definitely has many jokes and stories that are always funny. Can be sometimes R Rated so if you can not take a joke do not go. But I suggest make sure you see him perform.

Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
It is hard to believe but we are almost into August. Well I saw many great bands this weekend and I had a chance to sit down and talk to the drummer of the Fulcos that play at the Beer Barrel. I think he is around 27. He would come to every game just to watch. Well we decided to have him play along with his band mates on our team. Well we had him play third base and he got a grounder hit to him and he caught it but the runner ran into him and he sprained his wrist. That is not a good thing to happen when you are a drummer. That is what he does for a living about 240 days a year. So he played that night and they next week 1 handed. I sent a lot of my guests to watch the band and they commented how good the band was and they did not realize he was playing with 1 hand. He is not playing anymore but he is still there cheering us on. Speaking of softball I am down to 4 games left in my season. We really are not that good but I am enjoying playing again. Win or lose it is nice to be out there playing again. I have made many new friends and I have gotten lots of compliments on my play. I hope to play again next year.
So today a lot of quick thoughts
Do not judge people by their relatives
Talk slow but think quick
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice
Open your arms to change, but do not let go of your values
Marry a person that you love to talk to. As you get older your physical characteristics might change but the conversation will help continue the love you have for each other
Read more books and watch less TV
In disagreements with loved ones, deal with the current situation only. Do not bring up the past.
Remember that your character is your destiny
Remember that not getting what you want sometimes is a good thing
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it is the only way to live life completely
Once a year go to someplace that you have never been to.
The last one is self reflection. Make sure that you try to spend time alone. It could be a bike ride, a long walk or just laying in bed before you fall asleep. But collecting your thoughts and reliving your last few days then planning your next few days can do wonders for you. For me writing these posts is a good reminder to me to be the person that I am.
One more thing: listening to music is always a great way to create an attitude. So come up to Put in Bay and listen to some great music.
