The putinbay.com team is happy to introduce a new feature to our website! Sara Booker, of the Boardwalk Family of Restaurants, along with other Put-in-Bay establishments, is going to take her camera to some great family friendly Put-in-Bay spots off the beaten path, to show you another side of the Bay!

This Week: Everyone's Gotta Go!

OK, let’s discuss a simple fact of life that is not always the first topic of conversation. One of life basic facts, “everyone’s gotta go”.  Every day, every week,  every month every year.  Number one or number two, it’s always me and always you! So let’s talk about Put-in-Bay and its restrooms.  Of course, all the bars and restaurants provide a restroom for their customers but many people don’t know that there are many public restrooms provided for visitors traveling by foot, golf cart ,or any other land vessels. Let’s break it down:

1.Located in the heart of the Village of Put-in- Bay is De Rivera Park.

De Rivera is home to a very well-maintained public bathhouse.  Restrooms and showers are provided for boaters and daily visitors.

2. Directly behind the Put-in Bay Visitors Bureau is a men’s room and a women’s room. East end of Delaware Avenue.

3. Put-in-Bay Town Hall also has public restrooms. Located directly above the police station.

4. Both the South Bass Island State Park and Oak Point State Park have newer public restrooms.

5. Of course the newly opened Aquatic Visitor Center has exceptional public restrooms. Don’t just go to “go”… you must check this free aquatic experience.

6. Perry’s International and Peace Memorial Visitor Center offers scenic restrooms.

7. If you’re traveling via the Jet Express or Miller Ferry, both of these boat lines accommodate their passenger’s needs on the dock.

I may have missed one or two, but this is the best I can do via my visual mental island tour. lol

Here’s my 50 $ense when it comes to restroom style in our family businesses. Maintain Cleanliness and Make them Memorable. So let’s have a LOOKABOUT  with my visual video tour of what makes some of the island business restrooms memorable.

Since we’re on the topic … Does anyone remember either of these two sayings that were often displayed in cottages or boats?

1. On this lovely isle of sun and fun,  we never flush her number one.

2. If it’s yellow, let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down.
