Put-in-Bay Paul Heads To Mission Control

Houston, Put-in-Bay Has Landed!

Put-in-Bay Paul Shares His Spaceflight Experience

Put-in-Bay Paul is Put-in-Bay’s first person into space, and he got to share his Put-in-Bay story this week in Houston. Paul Jeris, known around these parts as Put-in-Bay Paul, got a special opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at Space Center Houston ahead of the Space Exploration Educators Conference 2026, where he and a couple of his fellow travelers got to speak with an auditorium of STEM educators and kids hoping to join Paul in space one day.

Paul Ended Up Talking About The Bay As Much As Space!

Since there’s such a small group of people who have been to space, people around NASA tend to know a lot of biographical stuff about them, and that let Put-in-Bay Paul share a lot about his favorite place. “I couldn’t believe how much I got asked about Put-in-Bay,” Paul said, “people were really energized to learn about our island, it’s a pretty unique place!” The staff he met particularly enjoyed the island tradition of taking the Put-in-Bay Gazette to exotic corners of the world, and wonder how anyone’s going to top space!

An Explorer's Reunion

This trip was a great occasion for Paul for another reason. He got to reunite with Aymette Jorge Medina and Gretchen Green, two of his fellow travelers on Blue Origin NS-32. The three got to reminisce on their unique experience, shared by less than 800 people in human history, while touring Space Center Houston.

A Great Chance To Spread The Word About The Bay!

The Space Exploration Educators Conference was a great opportunity for Paul to share his experiences with the people who are hopefully cultivating the next generation of space travelers. But it was also a chance to share his love for our little island community! You might think Put-in-Bay is a hidden gem, but if Put-in-Bay Paul has any say in the matter, there’s going to be a whole bunch of visitors from Houston in 2026, “and beyond!”
