Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
What a great weekend to start out for 2024. The lines formed outside the Roundhouse at 11am to just get a table for the Whiskey Light celebration. Great Music on Saturday night at Mr. Eds and the RoundHouse.
Put in Bay is still not 100% open yet but it is really a nice time to come up before the crowds arrive.
So before I post this weekend’s entertainment I want to share a thought. A lot of these I have collected over the last 25 years. Some will be funny and some will make you think. I will post my comments afterwards.
Remarkable Obituary
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved friend, Mr Common Sense. Mr Sense has been with us for many years. No one knows how old he was since birth records were long ago lost in Bureaucratic red tape.
He will be known by telling us that the early bird gets the worm and that life is not always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies. ( don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable Parenting strategies. (adults, not kids, are in charge)
His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate. Teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student.
Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live when churches became businesses, and criminals receive better treatment than our veterans that served our country. Common Sense finally gave up after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot and she spilled it on her lap and was awarded a large settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in Death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son Reason. He is survived by his 2 step brothers, My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because few realized that he was gone.
So now that I celebrated my 67th Birthday this week I remember when I learned the basic values of life. Always be respectful of others. Help those in need. Do not judge a person by the way they look or act. Life is too short to hold grudges and have enemies. Yes some people are just rotten so just avoid them or walk away.
If somebody does not agree with your values or beliefs that is okay they are entitled to follow their own path in life. Humans these days are more worried about everybody else instead of taking care of themselves. Stop watching the news. Make your own trail in life. You cannot change the past because it is over but you can change your future. Hopefully your future is a trip to Put in Bay this summer. Enjoy every day to the fullest and as Mike Mad Dog Adams says Every Day above ground is a goood day. That is the line that starts this week’s music. Mike is starting his 44th season on Put in Bay
