PIB Makes History with Guinness World Record During Declaration 250
One of the exciting things that took place over Put-in-Bay’s America 250 weekend was a Smirnoff Ice event that made the Guinness Book of World Records. The event took place on Saturday, August 1st, and was hosted by the Round House.
More than 250 participants with individual hot dogs gathered around a huge table shaped in the form of a Smirnoff Ice bottle. No two hot dogs had the same combination of condiments. Michael Gregory Mizani, an American professional wrestler, actor, and television personality better known by his ring name the Mike the Miz, emceed the exciting event while standing a bottle table on which 274 edible hot dogs were arranged around the edge.

World Record for Largest Display of Hot Dogs
The participants and crowd of onlookers at the field next to the BayShore Resort waited patiently as an official adjudicator, Sapinska, from Guinness made sure each of the hot dogs qualified. One mistake could have ruined the world record attempt. Only when the judging was complete, were the participants able to enjoy their hot dogs.
When all was said and done, a new Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Display of Hot Dogs was set right here at Put-in-Bay in honor of America’s 250th.

Unofficial Attempt Later In The Evening Was A Huge Hit!
Later in the evening, approximately 350 hot dogs were distributed as the Dog House patio behind the Round House filled with participants and spectators. Due to Guinness World Records’ strict participation requirements, the attempt was not officially certified. Even so, it became one of the weekend’s largest attractions and showcased the tremendous enthusiasm surrounding Declaration 250.
