The hot food served at The Pit Stop is much better than ordinary gas station grub. Fast and filling, this is also one of the cheapest meals in town. Hearty breakfast sandwiches are served alongside scrambled eggs and bacon. Their soups and sandwiches for lunch are also pretty great. They close at 5:30pm so make sure to fill up, both with food and fuel, when needed.

Put-in-Bay

Once you fill your tank, you are free to explore the island, whether by cart, car, or foot! The Shops at Compass Pointe are very close to the gas station. This lovely complex offers five shops specializing in home decor, thoughtful gifts, and Put-in-Bay souvenirs.
If you prefer to go a little farther afield than the downtown, head to South Bass Island State Park. This beautiful park includes a public launching dock, a small beach for swimming, and power boats, jet skis, and paddle boards available at Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals.

Take a break from driving around the island at one of the many nature trail dotting the island. Watch for migratory birds, spot a glimpse of the Lake Erie water snake, and enjoy the peaceful respite these trails offer. They include the Massie Cliffside Preserve and Jane Coates Wildflower Trail.

Exploring always works up an appetite. Joe’s Bar next to the state park makes delicious paninis and hot dogs. Their back patio is relaxing and very pleasant. For a nice sit-down meal, try Goat Soup and Whiskey just up Catawba Avenue.

Downtown Put-in-Bay is positively packed with bars and restaurants. From lakeside dining at the Boardwalk and the Keys, to comfy Irish fare at Hooligans, there are no end of options.

After dinner enjoy live music at one of the many bars. The Round House and the Boathouse are both known for incredible lineups of local and regional bands. Dancing can be found at The Green Room at Mr. Ed’s into the wee hours or just get down at MIST Pool Bar where DJ’s spin all weekend long. The fun never ends on Put-in-Bay, always the perfect summertime destination.
