Put-in-Bay is brimming with local artists and artisans of all kinds. Their unique talents really make South Bass Island a very special destination. Jessie Green is a shining example of that with her business, Jessie’s Jewelry.
Jessie’s Jewelry Details
Her sweet little boutique is located at The Keys restaurant, right on the harbor and next to the Jet Express Ferry Terminal. She makes each piece by hand with the help of her entire family.
Jessie personally finds each stone during the winter months of the island. Her father then cuts and carves each stone, carefully polishing them to perfection. Next, her mother creates soft and delicate crocheted lines while Jessie designs each and every item. Each piece is singular.
Jessie’s Jewelry Sample Pieces
• Monument Pendants
• Pendants that combine different types of stone for a truly unique look
• Charms
• Natural Free Form Pieces such as rings and pendants shaped like birds
Each piece embodies the soul of the island. These are perfect gifts from someone who really loves Put-in-Bay as well as a token for a friend who has never been. Of course, they also make a great gift for yourself. Jessie also accepts custom orders, which can take up to two months, but the best things are always worth the wait.
Take a little part of the island home with you to treasure all year round. No matter who is lucky enough to receive a piece of Jessie’s Jewelry, this is a wonderful way to support the arts on Put-in-Bay.
The Keys
This popular Caribbean themed spot finds diners enjoying fresh fare like hand breaded perch along with amazing lake views. Perfect anytime of day, enjoy the warm sun during the day and spectacular sunsets in the evening with a drink in hand.
The Keys could not be better located. Its beautiful and expansive building is the first thing you see when you arrive to the island via the Jet Express Ferry. The Keys also includes their own shop, Local Color as well as the only fire pit on the island. The Park Place Boat Club is also onsite, which provides exclusive benefits to their members.
The menu is chock full of deliciousness. Their key lime tartar sauce really pairs perfectly with perch or on their famous Conch Fritters. They also serve amazing salads, burgers, and soups. Make sure to try their She Crab Bisque.
Cocktails run the gamut from specialty frozen rum cocktails to classics like a Dark and Stormy. Rum is definitely the liquor of choice around these parts. They also have an extensive beer and wine menu.
Finish off your meal with a slice of Key Lime pie. Expertly made with a dollop of whipped cream on top, this is a perfect tropical dessert, whether you’re on Put-in-Bay or the Florida Keys.
A great place for large groups, the Keys can easily accommodate any event with their group menus and large venue. Live music can always be heard on deck, with two shows a day during the high summer season.
