Local Color

A bright pink facade beckons visitors into Local Color, the gift shop located on the grounds of The Keys restaurant complex. Stocked full of Key West and Caribbean inspired gifts, Local Color is positively brimming with island color.

Local Color Details

As its name implies, Local Color sells wares by many local Put-in-Bay artists from jewelry to prints and beach glass designs. Homegoods include lovely tea towels decorated with mermaids and shells, jackets for cool mornings on the boat, and a variety of gifts for kids. The mermaid toys are super adorable.

They also sell stickers and postcards, perfect gifts for those left at home. Select one their fashionable sunglasses before heading to one of the many pool bars, like MIST, on the island. Straw hats, cool water bottles, and stuffed animals can be found as well.

Local Color also hosts a variety of specials events during the summer. A favorite is certinaly Ladies Nights. Local artists sell their goods and share the secrets of their craft while everyone enjoys a cocktail. This lovely building also includes a deck with chairs, where visitors can enjoy a beverage from Starbucks Coffee, also located on site.

There really is no end to the fun stuff for sale. Grab a hot pink shirt with the Put-in-Bay name on the front to share your love of the island all year long. Or pick up a ukulele and serenade your friends all summer long.

Jessie’s Jewelry is located next door. This boutique is home to beautiful pieces created by local artist Jessie Green. She handcrafts island inspired designs using stones she collects herself. A very special store full of special gifts.

The Keys

One of the most popular dining destinations on Put-in-Bay, The Keys serves delicious, Caribbean inspired food with amazing lake views. Drink, dine, and listen to amazing live music, all on the banks of Lake Erie.

With a Florida Keys vibe and Put-in-Bay hospitality, there is no end to fun at the Keys. Located right next to the Jet Express Ferry Terminal, it is the first business many visitors to the island see. Why not stop by for a drink before heading into the island. There’s no time like the present!

Dine on delicately breaded perch or their famous Conch Fritters, both served with their signature Key Lime Tartar sauce. Speaking of Key Lime, their Key Lime Pie is positively out of this world! A generous slice is paired with a big dollop of whipped cream and a lime wedge.

Other amazing items include their Island Tacos, Mahi Reuben, and smashed Avocado Toast.

A variety of rum cocktails, like Dark and Stormy’s and Pusser’s Painkillers share the menu with an impressive list of beer and wine. There are also plenty of frozen cocktails to choose from like the Miami Vice or the Pina Colada. Tempting to say the least!

The Keys is sure to become one of your new favorite destinations on Put-in-Bay. Or maybe it is already. A relatively recent addition to the scene, it is hard to imagine island life without it!
