Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
Greetings everybody. Thank You to everybody that reads my posts every week. I am very tempted to comment on the news of the day but I always promised myself that talking about politics or wars going on is counter productive. Yes things happening all over the world do affect us here in the USA but a lot of us have personal issues that are just as important as bombs going off elsewhere. I just have to trust the people that are leading our country make the right decisions and protect us like they have for over 200 years. Just think we are very fortunate that other than Pearl Harbor 80 years ago American soil has never been attacked. We need to be very Thankful that we live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. We also need to show compassion to those living through the turmoil that is going on in other parts of the world. In the history of the world there has always been conflict. We even have it in the USA.
Okay enough of my political post without putting my two cents out there LOL
So lets share a few thoughts that I read many years ago that I follow every day
Be true to yourself
Make each day your masterpiece
Help others
Drink Deeply from good books
Promise to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own
Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
Promise to wear a cheerful appearance at all times and give every person you meet a smile
Promise to give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others
Promise to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit trouble to press on you.
Promise yourself that you will talk health, happiness and prosperity as often as possible
Promise yourself to make all of your friends know that there is something in them that is special that you value
Promise to think only of the best,to work only for the best and to expect only the best in yourself and others.
Last thought or suggestion. Put a dry erase board on your refrigerator or at work just use a note pad. Write down every day what you hope to get done. At the end of the day review your list. Whatever you did not get done put at the top of the list for the next day. These can be simple tasks or very meticulous tasks. But the purpose is to have goals. My goal is to have nothing on my board at the end of the day. I would do this at my work and I still do this every day. It helps to write things down. Whenever the board is empty I have this great feeling and I usually will sit down with a glass of bourbon and reflect on the day and think of what I need to put on the list for the next day.
