The Old Forge specializes in crepes alongside an impressive and varied menu. Located right on Catawba Avenue in downtown Put-in-Bay, The Forge is a great option for a delicious bite any time of day!
The Old Forge Details
The Old Forge is located in a charming brick building with plenty of patio seating. Dine under one of their large umbrellas and enjoy the sights and sounds of Put-in-Bay.
The building used to be an old blacksmith shop. The Old Forge opened in 2012 under the management of three friends who spent time renovating this 120 year old structure with a lot of sweat and a lot of love.
The Forge Menu Highlights
With four separate menus, The Old Forge really delivers. Let’s start with their brunch menu. Open everyday at 8am, this is a perfect place to start your day on Put-in-Bay.
Their breakfast crepes are light as a feather pancakes filled with all kinds of amazing ingredients. The Classic combines eggs, cheese, and bacon while the Pecos Bills adds south-of-the-border kick with pico de gallo, and corn salad. The Fancy Pants Crepe includes smoked salmon, arugula, cheese and a poached egg.
The deliciousness doesn’t end at crepes. Eggs Benedict with prosciutto, breakfast burritos, kale salad with goat cheese, and succulent sliders are just some of their offerings. They always make sure to provide healthy options for those looking for a lighter bite.
The Crazy Sam is filled with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and topped with sriracha cream. Make sure to add avocado for a flavor boost. The Caprese is a perfect meld of mozzarella, basil, and tomato while The Bodee is a sophisticated combo of prosciutto, apple, and balsamic reduction.
Drinks at The Forge
The full bar whips up mimosas, mojitos, really any type of cocktail you desire. Some of their signature cocktails include The Forge Martini and the Cosmo Karmer. The Cosmo Kramer knocks on your door with fresh strawberries and a fresh lemon. Try a Forge 75 or a Forge Bloody Mary with brunch.
Everyone loves sweet crepes! The Forge takes their take on the sweet crepe very seriously. The Little Miss Sunshine is just that, a slice of sunshine with lemon curd and mascarpone! Cinnamon and sugar is a class combination as is Plain Jane but sometimes classic is the way to go! Go extra decadent with the Buckeye Point where peanut butter and chocolate meet in heaven.
Tucked away on charming corner in downtown Put-in-Bay, The Forge is low-key, yet friendly, relaxed yet with phenomenal service. It’s very close to the Commodore Resort Hotel, Victory Station Hotel and the Bay Lodging Resort. Hooligans Irish Pub and Put-in-Bay Brewery and Distillery are neighbors.
There are so many things to do in Put-in-Bay, from the downtown attractions to the destinations a little farther afield like Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center and the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center. Visitors journey to this island from all over the region to enjoy an amazing weekend or the summer of their lives on South Bass Island.
