What’s To Come In ’25
So, 2024 has come to an end and 2025 has begun.
We would be remiss if we didn’t provide our readers with a peek at what’s to come for the islands.
Sadly, the things that are “for sure” are but few.
The first thing we know is an absolute “for sure.”
There will be no repeat of the full eclipse that we had in 2024.

The next thing we know is that the ever-popular paid parking in the Village will continue as it did last summer.
In spite of efforts to change it up a bit, the Village Council is saying let’s ride with it as it is.
According to those who follow zoning issues in the Village, building at the Crescent site will not proceed for the immediate future.
Starting January 1st, Mercy Health no longer requires island residents to send in an application or pay a fee to be part of the Life Flight Membership.
There are two century marks in 2025. Stone Lab became part of The Ohio State University in 1925. The first aircraft landed on Pelee Island in 1925.
The Monument will remain open for visitors going to the top as reconstruction of the lower plaza is shoved off until 2026.

It looks like the work on the Aquatic Visitor Center at the west end of the island is wrapping up, so we’re expecting it to reopen this season after being closed last year for the makeover.
The Village Council is expecting recommendations from a consultant for the traffic jams in the Village during the summer. They will be interesting to see.
Officials at the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton are expecting to fly the Ford Trimotor they’ve been rebuilding for about 20 years. Hopefully it will fly over the islands.
The Lonz Mansion on Middle Bass will be open for rentals. People will be surprised when they find the old ice box in the kitchen is just for show and doesn’t work.
Things are looking good for the acquisition of the Duff Vineyard and making it a park for everyone.
