Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
I once again want to Thank the people who lost their lives defending this country.
I know we think about it on Memorial day but you really need to think about it everyday. In the USA we are very privileged to have the freedom that we have without war on our land. Yes we have troops stationed all over the world trying to keep the peace. But overall the continental USA has not had a major war. The last real conflict that we had was the civil war.
I watch the news and see all of the fighting in Ukraine, Gaza and Africa. Too many innocent people dying every day. It really makes me think about why that is going on when we have peace in our country. Why can’t people just get along and let everybody go their own path in life? Now in nature you have other animals attack each other for food and sometimes even territory. Humans are animals I guess in the same way as animals in the wild. But it does not have to be that way.
But as long as history has been written there has been wars. But for some reason the American people refuse to attack others. We usually go to war to stop others or help our allies. Now we are the richest country in the world. Maybe we are because we do not believe in war. But we spend an ungodly amount on defense so nobody does attack us. Why would somebody even think of attacking us? Well in a lot of cases it is because they think their way of life is better. Now as a nation we are not perfect because we have too much gun violence in this country. We also have mobs and gangs that try and control things. Thankfully in most cases they do not have a desire to overthrow the country. They just want to control their neighborhood.
Well nothing is perfect and there will always be conflict. Either at work, home or abroad. Just everyday when you see what is going on in teh world just be extra thankful to all of the men and women that protect your freedom. And even though our police departments are not an official part of Memorial weekend they should be. Because we see them every day and they also risk their lives everyday to make sure that we have the freedom that we do.
