Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
I am not sure what to make of some things any more. The weather as been awesome. It has been in the 70s with not rain at all until the last few days. This is not what I expect in September. The leaves will be on the trees still in late October at this rate. The Browns looked like another game was going to be lost and then out of the blue we won. Too many times I have see the opposite happen and we lose. The Indians were 15 1/2 games out of first and as of this post they are tied for first. Then we had The Cavaliers last year have the best record in the Eastern conference but could not make it out of the second round. Well this brings me to this week thoughts.
Lets talk about my sports teams. I look at what happened to my 3 sports teams and I look at what happened to each one and the conclusion is the same. Some things happen because of injuries but some happen because lack of completion to the task at hand. But also never take the end result for granted and no matter how big the mountain seems to not ever give up. These are sports examples. Now lets equate this to life. Both sports and life have a time limit. The thing with sports is that you have a time limit on a game and a certain number of games until the season is over. The you start next year with a clean slate and a 0-0 record. So the Cavaliers had one of the best seasons in there history but either injuries or bad matchups caused the season to derail. So they made roster changes and I am sure they will treat things differently as they go through the season. Next the Browns game Sunday. I cannot explain what happen except for that they never gave up. They continued to play hard till the clock clicked zero. I think they believed that they still could win. Now lets look at the Indians and Tigers. This could be the largest deficit ever overcome in baseball. Now it is not over yet but things are trending that way. The Indians starting pitching has been better then anybody in baseball in the last month. The Tigers look like they are waiting for something bad to happen. In this case it is momentum. Both positive and negative that is causing the current results. How tough is it to change for both teams. It could change today for both teams. But there is only 5 games to go. Anything could happen. If the Tigers continue to implode do they fire their manager at the end of the year? Lots of interesting examples.
But now the real point of this weeks thoughts. I am talking about you. The person that is reading this post right now. All of the above examples have a time limit that everybody knows. Plus next year they all get to reset and start over. Your life also has a time limit. Nobody knows when that time is up. Can you change your life course? Absolutely you can. Are you in a dead end job not making enough money. We start really looking hard for another job. Do not quit looking until you find what you are looking for. Are you stuck in a bad or abusive relationship well end it. There could be a better option for you. You are better to be alone instead of suffering through misery. Are you tired of your weather or neighborhood? Then move. How is your health? Are your overweight, smoke or do drugs. Any one of those will shorten your life on earth. I know everything that I have said are not easy to change. Nothing is easy in life. But your life has a time limit and you should not go through it without trying to improve your mental and physical health. If you do not care how you proceed through life than fine continue to do what you are doing now. Make today the start of a new season for your life. Do a complete reset. Sit down alone someplace where it is quiet with a pen and a piece of paper. Write down all of the negative things that need to change. I gave you a few examples already. Then write down everything that makes you smile and happy. Now next to each thing write down the time frame that you will make things change. If you are able to complete over 70% of both lists then you will be very happy for the rest of your life. If you only complete 40% that is still 40% better than you are currently at. If you do nothing then your life will not be complete and you will be 80 and have regrets of the things that you did not change and the things that you did not do. Do not be that person. I have faith is each and every one of you. Now some of you might have the perfect life already but I am sure their are still things that you can change to even make it better. Every single one of you can change. You can start your life over right now. I do know this that if you make a trip to Put in Bay before the end of our season you will be happy.
