Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
Every week I will share my thoughts of the week and give updates on the happenings on the entertainment on Put in Bay.
Ashleys Island House welcomed their first guest of the season on Friday night. I still have to get 5 more rooms completed before we can fill all of the 13 rooms. I should have them done by Wednesday.
I am on the island for Easter and I want to thank the Fishers for inviting me over for Easter dinner. They had my favorite Honey Baked Ham.
This weekend is the official start of the season on the island with the lighting Whiskey sign at the Roundhouse. This is my favorite day of the year because I get to see all of the regulars that I have not seen since we turned the sign off 5 months ago. I am sure we will all share our winter travel stories and get updated on changes in everybody’s life. Put in Bay is really a great small town. We will get about 750000 people visit the island this year. Everybody takes a short boat ride and they can forget of all of the pressures and troubles of every day life and just relax.
So for my new readers I try to find a quote that I have saved over the year and save it for you to ponder. I will modify the quote to make it my own or update it to todays world. So this week it is about John Wooden. When I worked at Mercedes I went to a training on the John Wooden principles.
Here are a few quotes that are still relevant today and things that I strive to do. These are a list of promises that I try to do. You do not have to do them all but try to at least work on 1 a month. You will be surprised on the results.
Promise yourself that you will talk health, happiness and prosperity as often as possible
Promise to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
Promise to forget mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements in the future.
Promise to give so much time improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
Promise to wear a cheerful appearance at all times and give every person you meet a smile
Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
Promise yourself that you will talk health, happiness and prosperity as often as possible
Promise to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
So I am going to add on this thought. Everybody no matter what you do for a living or what age you are should have a plan. There will always be outside influences that could change your plan but you have to stick to your goals and ideas. My phone ring tone is a duck. Why??? Because no matter what happens to be on a daily basis I try to be that duck when he gets wet. I just flap my wings to get rid of the water and move forward and I do not let the water affect my attitude or my plans.
So the week ahead for me should be fun. Wednesday I am doing the double again. Indians game at 1 then the Cavaliers game at 7. Then Thursday I turn 68. It sounds old but to me it is just a number. So Thursday I have my annual physical and then an eye appointment. For the evening I have a concert by Journey and then The NFL draft at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Then early morning back to Put in Bay to check in my guests.
Maybe I will see some of you this week. If not have a great week and watch for the post next week.
