Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
Summer heat is here and so is the great music at Put in Bay. Next weekend is Pirates weekend and then the 4th of July so there is lots on tap the next few weeks. On a personal note. If you read my post a few weeks ago I said I never want to grow up. Well this week I played softball for Topsy Turvey in the island softball league on Fathers Day. I used to play softball every week until about 10 years ago. I always missed it and I was really happy that I got to play a kids game again. I actually did really well and they asked me back to play again. So hopefully I can be a kid again but hopefully not get injured and play a few games.
Time for the thought of the week. It is about death but then again it is really about life. If you live every day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right. I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself. If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? And whenever the answer is no for too many days in a row I know that I have to change something. Your time on earth is limited, so do not waste it living someone else”s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma– which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Do not let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. That is true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, And the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you have not found it yet, keep looking. Do not settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. And like any great relationship,it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it.
