Downtown Dave is going to make you want to come to the Bay this weekend. Here’s where we think you should stay!

Downtown Dave Here!

Downtown Dave here from Ashley’s Island House Bed and Breakfast to give you this week’s comments and the schedule for the upcoming weekend. I also have an email for comments and suggestions to the weekly post. downtowndavepib@gmail.com

Last weekend was an awesome time. I almost made it to every venue to check out the bands and put in my notebook what type of music that they play.

Now this week’s weather is really hot on the mainland but on Put in Bay it will be in the low 70s. Perfect weather for a trip to Put in Bay.

Everybody that I have talked to said rooms are filling up fast for the rest of the summer but I do know there are rooms open for this weekend.

On Sunday I went to the historical Museum right behind the Brewery. It is only $5 to get in and it will tell you a lot about the history of the island. It is really worth the time to stop in. There is a lot more to the island than all of the great music.

So, a thought to ponder:

A teacher filled a jar with golf balls and asked the class if the jar was full and they said yes. Then he picked up a box of small pebbles and poured them into the jar and asked if the jar was full and again the students again said it was full. Next he picked up a jar of sand and poured it in and again he asked the students if it was full and of course they said yes. Then he took 2 cans of beer and poured them into the jar. The students laughed. Now the teacher said the jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things. Your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions–things that if everything else was lost and they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else–the small stuff.

Now if you put the sand in first there is no room for anything else. So if you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff there is no room for everything else that is important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. So do not sweat the small stuff.
A student then asked what about the beer. It goes to show you no matter how full your life may seem, there is always room for a couple of beers with a friend. That is something I will be doing this weekend, having a few beers with friends watching live music at Put in Bay!
