Next Two Weekend’s Live Music At The Bay!
So this is going to a change up this weeks Downtown Dave post. I am going to make a few comments but then I am going to make comments in each bar section about the bands performing at each venue. Now each band or artist that I comment about I have personally seen play. I also have many videos posted on many live performances on my personal facebook page. The whole reason that I started to come to Put in Bay was the different live music that I could listen to on a given day.

The Benderz played a few weeks ago and the are 1 of my top bands on the island. They can play anything and usually play each song for no more then 3 minutes before they go to the next song.

From Billy Joel, Elton John to Ozzy Osbourne they paly it all and also todays hits. They do not have I pads or background music they know all the songs. I have been told that I need to see Kyle. Nick is here a lot in July. His main place he plays is Key West. You do not play there unless you are real good. I did stop in and saw Nick play last weekend. The place was packed and he was outstanding. Please go and see him. Now Bob Gatewood, Not only is he a good friend he is a great musician. Solo he makes it sound like a full band and with Calabash during the week puts on a great show. Plus he has some great original music that he plays. Plus the official island song about Put in Bay called Friends of the Bay. Ray Fogg, I have seen him play for over 20 years. He will play all of your favorite sing alongs plus a few of his originals. Definitely has many jokes and stories that are always funny. Can be sometimes R Rated so if you can not take a joke do not go. But I suggest make sure you see him perform.

Downtown Dave’s Thought(s) For The Week
I hope everybody had a great Holiday weekend.
Put in Bay was packed and the weather was hot. I posted many music videos throughout the weekend so you could hear some of the great entertainment here on the island. So between going out and handling a sold out house last week when Sunday rolled around I was exhausted. But I sat back that night and I realized that one day things will change and I will not have the energy to keep up with my hectic lifestyle. In life everything has a beginning and an end. Well my end is getting closer everyday but I am determined to live everyday to the extreme.
Many of you are on social media reading my posts and checking up on news. Well have you ever noticed that most of the posts are negative or complaining about someone or some place. It is so much easier to complain instead of complimenting. As you probably have noticed I very rarely complain or criticize in my posts. I might see a band and they might suck but why should I post a negative comment when I do not have the talent or guts to get on stage myself. Also the band might suck to me but be great for somebody else. I do believe it is my job every week to share my thoughts and hopefully make you think. I hope after you read what I have to say that maybe it brightens your day.
So that brings me to my thoughts of the week. Now I might have posted this over the last few years but after this weekend I think it is worth sharing again.
When things in your life seem too much to much to handle and when 24 hours a day are not enough remember these words.
Take an empty large glass jar and fill it with golf balls. Is it full? Well some of you might say yes, but it is not really full. Next let’s put in some small pebbles. Shake the jar to fill all of the gaps between the golf balls. Is it full now? Nope not yet. Next get a box of sand. Pour it into the jar. It should fill up the rest of the space in the glass jar. Is it full now? Nope not yet. Now I want you to get 2 cans of beer and pour it into the jar. Is it finally full? Yes now it is full. Now lets look at this full jar and what it represents. The jar is you and your life. The golf balls in the jar are the important things–your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions. These are things that if everything was lost and they only remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles in the jar are the other things in your life that matter like your job, your house ,your car.
The sand is everything else–the small stuff. Now if you put the sand in first there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all of your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are really important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take the time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse or significant other out to dinner. Play another 18 holes of golf. There will always be time to clean the house. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. So now you must be thinking where does the beer come in. Well their is always rooms for a few beers with friends. So come up to Put in Bay this weekend and have a few beers with friends or have a few with me because you know I will be out and about.
